Alright so Saturday was super cool for
Elder Ortiz because he and Elder Nelson (AP when I got here) had two
converts that were getting sealed in the temple. So I went and spent the
day in Independencia with my good ole friend from the CCM Elder
Norried. Their is apartment is on the 23rd floor of a huge apartment
building which is kind of cool just saying. I definitely wasn´t in
Renca. It was kind of a strange intercambio because we did a service
project before and after lunch. Lunch took forever so we didn´t get out
of the service project until like 5. WE did our language study and then
it was time to eat dinner which is kindo of lame but President and
Hermana Videla are pretty insistent on us taking an hour of dinner. But I
got to eat McDonalds for the first time in forever (hehe frozen) and
that Big Mac was glorious. Then when we were finally ready to go work,
Elder Nelson called and they were almost back and it was time to go to
the reception... But I got to meet Elder Nelsons parents because they
came to get him from the mission cause he finished up this transfer and
they got to see the sealing which was way cool. Getting to the wedding
reception by micro was quite the adventure. Elder Nelson was a little
bit late because he had another wedding of current investigators that
was just a normal wedding. The best part of the day though was getting
to talk to Elder Nelson for a bit one on one and just kind of say bye.
This guy has really been an example for me here in the mission and I had
to just say thank you. He just said "Elder Shell this isn´t how
Heavenly Father shows that he is pleased with your work. This is the
biggest blessing and the world and I am just lucky. There are plenty of
missionaries that work just as hard as I do and never got to see this
kind of stuff." He probably told me that three or four times and then he
said something kind of out of the blue that I really needed to hear.
"Elder when I got here I had a lot of expectations that I realized that I
wasn´t going to reach. I had to regroup and find out what my real goal
is and that is to do my best to invite and help everyone to return to
the presence of God. Keep working hard, I know you´ll figure things out
and trust me the blessings will come." So then all I could to was try
and say thank you and give him a hug and tell him to say hi to Provo for
me. Such a great guy and amazing example for me here in the mission.
Sunday
we got to go to part of the temple Christmas concert with Alex. Before
the concert I saw people from BYU like Cole Anderson and Kim Smith who I
had no idea even was going on a mission but she was in the CCM. I also
saw Phil Henderson from Georgia and at the end of the night I found good
ole Elder Jensen. Kind of crazy the people you find when three of four
santiago missions can go to this concert. Really cool to see people but
kind of weird as well lol. I loved walking around the temple grounds
with Alex and seeing all the lights. Then we had a member from the ward
drive us home and it was kind of scarily awesome. Dude drives like a
maniac and I´m pretty sure we broke 100. We got home quick though lol.
Kind
of a short crazy week really but it was pretty good and ended
amazingly. I am really excited to spend Christmas here in Renca 2.2 and
excited to see what I can do with my Heavenly Fathers help with one
transfer more. I am determined to be a hardworking servant of my
Heavenly Father and to lose myself in his cause. The gospel is true and
Heavenly Father truly loves each and every one of his children. Jesus
Christ is our savior and his atoning sacrifice is for everone and it is
truly truly amazing. Have a wonderful week and remember the reason for
the season and I promise you will see his hand more in your life.
Love you all,
Elder Shell
PS
Mom and Dad I honestly have no details about skype and what and when we
can do it. President hasn´t said a thing. Just send me a time that you
think would work best and I´ll make it work.
